Hi.
I set up a site using the Atlanta theme and have a few questions:1. Is there a way to display a menu or a widget on one page only and not on others?
2. Why do all my pictures show in different sizes, totally unrelated to their size in pixels? How do I set it that all the pictures on a certain page will show in the same size?
3. For text and text & image widgets in the builder – is there a way to create a background for each of them or a frame?
4. Is there a place I can control the appearance of the automatic message sent to those who register for my blog?
5. For text $ image widgets – is there a way to make the title a link and not just the image?
6. For title widgets in the builder – is there a way to give them a hover effect when they are a link so that visitors to the site can tell that it’s a link?
7. What is the differentce between wordpress followers and email only followers in a blog?
9. Why does the alt text I entered in the media not show up when I hover over pictures in my site?I’d appreciate your help.
31/12/2015 at 11:32 #1017Hello Tamar,
1. Are you referring to sidebar widgets? If so, with the following plugin you can set for every widget in which pages it will be displayed:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/display-widgets/
2. Can you direct us to the page with the images?
3. Yes, you can give every widget a customized CSS class, using the ‘CSS Classes’ setting. Then you can give that class a background in the Customizer < Live CSS.
4. Are you referring to our forms plugin?
5. Unfortuantely you can’t but you can add a title widget and give it a link.
6. No, but you could do that with a little CSS.
7. What blog exactly are you referring to?
01/01/2016 at 8:42 #1025Hi,
following the item numbers:
2. http://www.designdifferently.com/he/%D7%A2%D7%91%D7%95%D7%93%D7%95%D7%AA/ and all its sub pages as well
4. One of my site pages is a blog. In settings-reading there are follower settings which define an automated response to those who register for the blog. This is the response I am referring to.
5. Can this be done through the code? Can I even access the code?
7. In the jetpack site stats it devides followers to email only followers and wordpress followers. I guess this isn’t about the Atlanta theme but perhaps you know the difference?
8. Why does the alt text I entered in the media not show up when I hover over pictures in my site?
9. Can I shrink (resize, not crop) a picture so that it fits into the slideshow fully even if it is bigger? If yes, how?
10. The theme supports only 6 menus. Is there a way to add more (I have a multi language site so I discovered I need that)?
Thanks,
Tamar.04/01/2016 at 12:10 #10342. In general, Settings > Media you can set the pixel sizes of the media images that are added to the website.
If you upload the images all in the same size, they will be displayed in the same size according to what you’ve set in the media settings.
In the page you sent, you uploaded images in different sizes.
4. Are the settings you’re referring to added with a plugin?
5. We give here technical support and unfortunately I can’t give you the specific code to do this. But you can add a title widget and give it a link.
7. Unfortunately I dont. But try looking it up in the plugin’s support.
8. Can you send me a link to the page?
9. In slideshows unfortunately there isn’t a way to set that, but in galleries > slideshow layout, you can unmark the ‘Slide Auto Height:’ setting and then all the images will be sized to the grid.
10. We don’t have a limit for menus, it has to do with WordPress itself.
04/01/2016 at 21:30 #10372. How is it then that I can upload bigger pictures than the size set in the settings. And why is it that when I change the size of a picture it doesn’t change on the screen? Also some bigger pictures in pixels appear smaller on the screen than other pictures which have less pixels. I am trying to understand how it works so that I put in the correct settings to get what I want. Also, there are two sized possible in the settings. How do I know which of the applies to a particular place in the site?
4. I don’t know. All I know is I can edit the text in settings>reading.
5. The title widget doesn’t have the same design as the title in the image $ text widget. You don’t have to give me the code, I just want to know if I can access it to do this myself?
8.http://www.designdifferently.com/he/%D7%A2%D7%91%D7%95%D7%93%D7%95%D7%AA/%D7%A2%D7%99%D7%A6%D7%95%D7%91%D7%94%D7%91%D7%99%D7%AA/
This is just one example. There are other pages too. All these pictures have alt texts but it doesn’t show.
9. I created the slideshow in slideshows not in galleries.
Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.05/01/2016 at 9:03 #10402. You’re right :/
It seems that the size displayed in the website is affected by the width of the image you uploaded.
If the image is very wide the image resizes itself so the that the whole image could be displayed.
That’s actually why all the images are displayed in a variety of sizes.
4. I’m sorry, could you send us a screenshot of the Settings > Reading area so we could get a better idea?
5. Yes, you can edit anything in the theme by editing the code (using the Child Theme of course).
9. Unfortunately there isn’t a built-in way in the Slideshows to resize the images with the grid size.
The images that are larger are re-cropped.
