    In both, the edit item button leads to a blank page with the following text showing up

    header
    content

    Does this happen in the edit area of the testimonials?

    Where do the words ‘header’ and ‘content’ show up in the recent galleries?

    You are working with a very old version of the theme.

    This is probably what is causing all the issues.

    Try backing up your site and upgrading the theme, it should work just fine.

    Regarding the plugin, have you tried it with a default WP theme, such as Twenty-Fourteen?
