Actually, in PayPal’s settings is supposed to be an option of displaying a purchase or donate button.
Check that out before installing the plugin.
You are working with a very old version of the theme.
This is probably what is causing all the issues.
Try backing up your site and upgrading the theme, it should work just fine.
Regarding the plugin, have you tried it with a default WP theme, such as Twenty-Fourteen?

In general you can change the button’s background color to red with the following code:

To change the grid’s hover color or make it transparent you can insert the following code in Appearance > Customizer > Live CSS:

As I see it every layer in a slider has the option of ‘Layer Animation’, with which you can set its start and end transitions.

You can set the home page in Settings > Reading > Static Page and choose from the list.

You are referring to a Text Widget in the Page Builder.
Simply go to that page > its second section in the Page Builder > in the Text Widget open the editor.
